Annual Meeting - 3pm  Please stay for this short meeting (we must have a certain number of members)  **There will be dessert**

Course Setter Notes:

The activity for the annual meeting will be a "Memory-O". If you've done a few regular orienteering courses, you have probably found yourself naturally looking ahead on the map. This is true even for "beginners". In fact, you might be surprised to find that you don't need to look at your map as often as you do! Let's find out how good you already are. Can you remember the entire leg? That's the idea behind the Memory-O. There will be a variety of very short courses to choose from. Time permitting, you may do as many as you like. Navigating these particular courses would be quite easy if you had the map with you the whole time. But this a game that is about memory, so you will not carry a map at any time!

Partial maps will be found at controls (i.e. attached to the control - they stay put!). We will use our regular SI boxes and electronic timing. Be sure to clear and check every time before going out on another course.

At the start there will be a partial course map for each course. After you punch start you may study the map for your course. When you are ready, leave the map behind and go to your first control(s). As you visit controls for your course you will find all the information required to continue along your course. Each partial map will guide you as far as you need to go to find more of your map. You may need to memorize multiple controls, depending on the difficulty of your chosen course. Maps will only be found at controls, but not every control will have a map for your course. Some controls will have multiple maps - make sure you study the right one for your course. Always plan to complete as much of the course as is shown on any given map (i.e. multiple legs in some cases).

There are six memory-O courses to choose from (you may do more than one):

Easy 1 - 5 controls, 0.6 km. You can do this!

Easy 2 - 5 controls, 0.5 km. Just so not everyone is on Easy 1.

Intermediate short - 5 controls, 0.8 km. Slightly more cerebral. Pay attention to detail.

Intermediate long - 6 controls, 1.0 km. Longer legs. Find an attack point.

MemO Run - 9 controls, 1.9 km, 45m climb. Physical and mental strain. Road crossings!

MemO Think - 10 controls, 1.3 km, 25m climb. More flags, less maps. Go brain, go!

There is also a White course - 8 controls, 0.9km. You sure you don't want to try "Easy"?

You can do as many courses as you have time for. I suggest starting with "Easy" or "Intermediate" to get the hang of this game, then try one of the expert "MemO" courses. They are hard, but if you're a real hotshot you can try the "MemO" courses first. Just don't get lost - relocating will be very difficult without a map!

This event is FREE for members!  Please consider joining/renewing your membership.
